If you’ve spent time around Fannin County Family Connection (FCFC), chances are you’ve met John or benefited from the work he does behind the scenes. As FCFC’s Resource Coordinator, John connects clients and families with resources, guidance, and support. His work goes beyond finding services. He helps people navigate difficult situations, find solutions, and regain hope.
The Person Behind the Purpose
John joined FCFC in December 2025 after coming out of retirement because he felt called to help families in Fannin and Polk Counties. One of his favorite parts of the job is seeing the smiles that come with success and knowing he has helped someone find hope when they felt lost. His goal is to guide families through difficult circumstances while helping them discover a path forward and the confidence to build a better future.
Everyone Moves Forward with Grateful Hearts
Every person who walks through FCFC’s doors has a story. John has heard many that have made an impact on him, but one stands out. This past winter, a gentleman was released from state prison and dropped off at a homeless shelter. There, he met three FCFC clients. The following day, all four came to FCFC, where John helped them obtain three photo identifications. This gentleman received one of those Photo Id’s.
The very next day, the gentleman found a job at a local restaurant. For the next two months, he supported the other homeless individuals who had helped connect him with FCFC. Eventually, he moved away after receiving an opportunity to advance his career and future.
Stories like this are what fuel FCFC’s work. Behind every success story is someone who believed first.
How John Supports Clients
John knows that every person and situation is different. He approaches each client with compassion while focusing on practical solutions.
“We listen to every situation that leads them to my door and develop solutions that promote opportunity and self-sufficiency while reaching their goals.”
John asks questions to understand each person’s needs, including access to benefits, identification, healthcare, transportation, housing, and other essential resources.
He then works with local charities, government agencies, landlords, and other organizations to connect clients with assistance. Just as importantly, he involves clients in the process so they can learn to navigate these systems independently.
“We are building relationships with our community through our program.”
A Growing Challenge: Access to Technology
One of the biggest needs John sees is access to communication and technology.
Many clients don’t have reliable access to computers or cell phones. In today’s technology-driven world, that can create another barrier when applying for jobs, accessing government services, finding housing, communicating with others, or pursuing education and career opportunities. While technology continues to advance, some members of our community are still working to gain access to the tools many of us take for granted.
More Than a Resource Coordinator
John is more than a Resource Coordinator. He’s a listener, problem solver, guide, and advocate. His work reminds us that strengthening a community isn’t always about solving every problem for someone. Sometimes, it’s about helping people discover that they have the ability to overcome those challenges themselves.
Behind every FCFC success story is someone who chose not to give up on another person. For John, helping people find hope again isn’t just part of his job. It’s his purpose.
Thanks John for all that you do to help those in need.I have seen first hand the positive changes in the lives of those you have been involved with and the support you have provided them.Your efforts are greatly appreciated and do not go unnoticed.
